Nurse Barbara Gilbert - Charlotte Ritchie
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Nurse Barbara Gilbert
Barbara Gilbert is in her early twenties and has recently qualified as a nurse and midwife when she arrives at Nonnatus at the start of the 1960s. She is the daughter of a Canon and an immediate hit with the nuns and midwives, who warm to her enthusiasm and naivety. Although middle class, she is not unaccustomed to poverty being brought up in Liverpool where, through her father's work, she was exposed to some of the most impoverished situations. For her young years, she has quite an old head on her shoulders. She soon becomes good friends with Patsy and Trixie.
She shares a room with Nurse Crane, another new arrival, much to her horror and proves herself a dab hand at sewing. Barbara acts with her heart before her head at times, always striving to support those most in need, despite the barriers she faces.
Charlotte Ritchie
Charlotte Ritchie (born 29 August 1989) is an English actress and singer-songwriter. From January 2015 she joined the cast of BBC's Call the Midwife playing Barbara Gilbert.
Londoner Charlotte attended James Allen's school in Dulwich. After a couple of small roles Charlotte was reading English and Drama at Bristol University when she successfully auditioned for the television sitcom 'Fresh Meat', and has since appeared in leading roles in another sitcom 'Siblings' and the period drama 'Call the Midwife'. In addition to acting Charlotte is a professional singer, and was a member of the female quartet All Angels, supporting Katherine Jenkins on her 2009 tour and performing at the UEFA Champions League final in 2011.

Benny and Jolene
In Benny and Jolene Jamie Adams' feature debut stars Craig Roberts (Submarine) and Charlotte Ritchie (Call the Midwife) as an up and coming folk duo. 19-year-old Jolene is having trouble convincing her writing partner Benny to become more commercial. Too many industry types get involved, leaving Jolene feeling dazed and confused and Benny marginalised.
Now they are on a crowded tour busy on their way to a festival in the most beautiful, yet remote, location - forcing them to confront their ambitions and emotions for the first time. Can they both get back to where they once belonged, and move forward together, or will all be lost in the noise and confusion?
