Based on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth; the story follows twenty-two year old Jenny, who in 1957 leaves her comfortable home to become a midwife in London's East End slums. She expects to find a hospital, and is surprised to find that the clinic is a convent: Nonnatus House. Working alongside her fellow nurses and the medically-trained nuns, Jenny has her eyes opened to the harsh living conditions. But she also discovers the warm hearts and the bravery of the mothers; each one a heroine in Jenny's eyes.

BBC Recommissions Call the Midwife up to Series 15 which will air in 2026

​Today we are THRILLED to hear that the BBC have renewed Call the Midwife for another two years BEYOND the current commission, which ends at Series 13! This means that our drama will now be extended to Series 15, which will air in 2026!!
Series 13 begins filming in the spring, and takes our Nonnatus House team into 1969. This recommission means that our much-loved Poplar residents will soon be bounding into the 1970s!!

Megan Cusack to join Call the Midwife in Series 10

Megan Cusack, 24, will make her TV debut as Irish student midwife Nancy Corrigan in Series 10
Megan is the niece of actress sisters Niamh, Sorcha, Sinead and Catherine Cusack. Sinead appeared in the 2016 Christmas special of the BBC drama.
